The Bengali style of wearing a dhoti (trouser like drape) is quite unique. The end of the pleated front area is held up in the left hand to give a fan like effect. A kurta (long shirt) is worn with the dhoti. The kurta will be embroidered and a decorative shawl draped for special occasions and pujas.
